Founded
in 1981, the IMAA
<http://www.imaa.ca/> is a national network of independent film, video and
electronic media producers, distributors and exhibitors from all parts of
Canada and it works to promote the improvement of means and access for
independents at every stage of funding, production, distribution and
exhibition. IMAA currently has 80 artist-run member organizations, representing
more than 12,000 artists and cultural workers.
The
Administrative Coordinator assists the National Director and the IMAA Board of
Directors in the daily activities of the association.
The
ideal individual must be fluently bilingual (spoken and written), have
excellent communication and organisational skills, excellent writing skills
(primarily in French), and a good understanding of the independent media arts
and of artists-run culture in Canada.

DESCRIPTION
Administrative
Coordinator
The
IMAA Administrative Coordinator is primarily responsible for communication with
the membership and the general public, and assisting with office
administration. This position involves the translation of all documents from English
to French and administrative support for the National Director and the Board of
Directors as required. Please note that this position requires travel one to
two times per year within Canada (travel costs paid by the IMAA) The
Coordinator reports to the National Director.
REQUIRED

An understanding of the independent media arts and artist-run culture
Assets:
Grant writing experience, film, video or new media production experience,
experience working in the non profit sector, administrative skills, graphic
design or web design or web programming skills.
DUTIES

To act as a liaison between the members, the general public and the National
Director
-
To prepare written activity report of his/her work when required

To assist the National Director with grant writing and fundraising activities

To assist the National Director with meeting preparation

To assist with planning and preparation for the Annual General Meeting
-
To attend Board meetings in the capacity of Minute Taker
-
To translate all IMAA documents from English to French and, when necessary, to
provide firsts drafts of French to English translation

To collect, edit, translate and circulate the monthly Newsletter
-
To proof-read documents
-
To maintain the IMAA website
-
To assist with research for briefs, presentations, surveys and other advocacy
issues

To propose and take community initiatives with approval of the IMAA board and
National Director
