Wanted: Video Instructor for Youth Media Education program

The Segal Centre for the Performing Arts at The Saidye (formerly the Saidye Bronfman Centre) is looking for a dynamic, experienced teacher to inaugurate the innovative youth media education program at the Segal Centre's Academy.

Candidates should have professional experience with all aspects of video production and a passion for working with kids. They should be prepared to bring their professional experiences into a classroom setting and inspire students to create socially aware media.

Qualifications:

  1. A degree in media, communications, filmmaking or similar program from a university or technical school OR equivalent field experience.
  2. Adept at all aspects of filmmaking including technical problem solving.
  3. Proficient with digital video, including HDV.
  4. Expertise of Apple software and Final Cut Pro and/or FinalCut Express
  5. Additional knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Flash an asset.
  6. Familiar with film history, theory and criticism.
  7. Familiarity with the Canadian film and television industry.
  8. Experience with and enthusiasm for working with elementary and high school aged students.
  9. Committed to creating socially responsible media and inspiring young filmmakers.

 

This is a part-time paid contract with a trial period from November – December and then resuming in January after holidays. Candidates should be prepared to help build curriculum according to their experience and to advise on technical matters.
